Sir Elton John initiated proceedings against The Guardian for libel after it published a spoof article in July 2008 written by Marina Hyde. Recently, the High Court of Justice in London issued a ruling in favor of the newspaper The Guardian that promotes the protection afforded to writers of satirical articles from defamation claims.
